Buttery Vegan French Toast

Ingredients:

  • SPRITZ Butter Cooking Spray
  • 4 slices thick-cut vegan bread
  • 1 cup plant-based milk (like soy, almond, or oat)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • Vegan butter or margarine (optional, for serving)
  • Maple syrup, for serving
  • Fresh fruit and powdered sugar, for garnish (optional)   

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the batter: In a shallow dish, whisk together plant-based milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. Soak the bread: Dip each slice of vegan bread into the batter, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
  3. Cook the French toast: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly spritz with SPRITZ Butter Cooking Spray. Cook the soaked bread slices for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Serve: Top with vegan butter or margarine, maple syrup, and your favorite fruit and powdered sugar, if desired.
