Hearty Black Bean Burgers. A plant-based meal made with simple ingredients, packed with protein and flavor. Let's start grilling!

Ingredients:

  • SPRITZ Original cooking spray
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork. Add the rolled oats, onion, green bell pepper, garlic, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  2. Form patties: Shape the mixture into four equal-sized patties. If the mixture is too soft, add breadcrumbs, one tablespoon at a time, until it holds its shape.
  3. Cook burgers: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Spray the skillet with SPRITZ original cooking spray. Cook the burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and heated through.

Serving suggestions:

Serve on your favorite burger buns with vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and vegan condiments.

Tip: Consider grilling the burgers instead of pan-frying them for a smoky flavor.
